Kurt & Nicole

About Us
Fourteen years ago, our life together began on a blind date at Starbucks. We were drawn together by a shared sense of humor and Christian Faith (not to mention the Mocha Frappuccinos!). Now, we live near the beach in Southern California with our three-year old adopted son Miles and our greyhound Hayden. We enjoy an active life, filled with good friends, outdoor sports and travel. We have a close, playful relationship. Family, friends, and fun, are the things we value most in life.

When we were ready to start a family, we weren't able to get pregnant. At that time we began to consider adoption, which just felt right to us, as Kurt and his twin sisters were adopted.

In December of 2005, we adopted our son, Miles. Needless to say, we were overjoyed by his arrival and have cherished every day he has been in our lives. Our home is filled with love and we would be thrilled to share this with your baby. To us, each day would be a new opportunity to love, support and care for your child.

On a family whale watching tourWe live two miles from the beach in Southern California and take full advantage of our beautiful neighborhood. There is a park, splash pad and a bike trail within walking distance of our home. We have great neighbors and frequently have the neighborhood kids over to play in our yard. Our weekends are not complete without a family bike ride to the beach to play in the waves, count helicopters, and build sand castles.

During football season, a week rarely passes without a gathering in our home to watch the game and enjoy some pizza. We love hosting these get-togethers and connecting with our neighbors. We have a home where everyone feels welcome.

Kurt about Nicole
Nicole is the most compassionate and gracious person I know. She enjoys travel, running, swimming, biking, cooking and reading. Her homemade Caesar Salad is to die for, along with her peanut butter and Hershey Kiss cookies! She loves life and accepts people for who they are, which is one of the million reasons why I love her with all of my heart.

A day at the beachNicole is a fun and playful mom. She has organized many front yard picnics, games of “tickle tag” and “driveway races”. No special occasion is ever required. She has created a home filled with fun, kindness and laughter.

Her understanding of fun has also driven her career. She works with communities across the country to develop neighborhood traditions and activities. She is fortunate to work out of our home, allowing her a flexible schedule.

Nicole is close to her sister and two brothers. She hopes that your baby will also enjoy the benefits of having a close sibling… someone they can count on throughout life.

Nicole about Kurt
Kurt's unconditional love, integrity and optimism have transformed my life. He is my best friend and my greatest advocate. Kurt never misses an opportunity to share his enthusiasm with others. He is the glue that connects family and friends.

Kurt is a successful sales professional. For the past 14 years he has worked for a Fortune 500 company, headquartered in Southern California.

Halloween 2008Kurt has many hobbies, which include travel, basketball, golf, watching sports, and going to the beach. Kurt and Miles spend many Saturdays playing football (or soccer) in our front yard. They also pack a picnic and head to the park for bike riding.

Making the most of family time is a trait Kurt learned from his own parents. His parents never missed a single one of his soccer games, and always supported his interests. Kurt maintains a close relationship with his family.

About Miles
Miles was born on December 20, 2005. We met him and his birthparents three days later. The next day, Christmas Eve, we brought him home. Since that time, his energy, charisma, humor and intelligence has not ceased to amaze us! Miles is very social and caring of others, and is always eager to learn new things and WOW his friends with new things he's learned. When he is not at the beach or at the park, his favorite place is home. He loves riding his bike, playing in the dirt, watching movies, and reading books.

We frequently tell him his adoption story and maintain regular contact with his birthmother, Jennifer. This includes pictures, letters and visits. Miles loves looking at all the pictures from our visits, as these are very special times for him. As we watch him grow, we will provide all the support and resources he needs to achieve his dreams… whatever they may be.

We know Miles will make a great big brother to your baby.

For Your Baby
Home is our favorite place. It is filled with unconditional love and affection. It is warm and friendly. It is a safe haven – a place you can always be yourself.

As parents, we believe in using positive reinforcement to foster a sense of security and unlimited opportunity. Over the years, we will celebrate your child’s gifts and talents, teaching your child to use these to make a positive impact. We are able to provide all the financial and emotional resources needed to help make your child’s dreams come true.

Miles and his proud grandparentsThe Power of Adoption
Our family was built through adoption. In our house, we tell our adoption stories frequently and with great enthusiasm. We support open adoption and would love to share your child’s landmark moments with you through visits, cards, letters and photographs.

We have completed our home study requirements for the state of California and are ready to welcome a new baby into our home. Although we cannot begin to understand the decision you are currently facing, we can offer one possible solution.

We look forward to meeting you to understand your personal needs and your dreams for your baby. To learn more about us, or arrange a personal meeting, please contact Cindy Simonson with A Loving Alternative at 1-800-556-5635. Whatever your decision, we wish you the very best.
Warmly,

Kurt & Nicole
