Dear Birthmother,

Hi, we’re Evan and Karyn and we would like to thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We cannot imagine how you might be feeling right now. We recognize that the decision to place your child with adoptive parents can be very challenging. We admire your incredible strength and determination to find a loving and stable home for your baby. We want you to know that there is no greater gift you could give us than an opportunity to welcome your child into our lives.

Before you read any further, we promise you, we will do anything and everything to provide for your baby. We offer two loving, attentive, and caring parents; a warm, loving home; a great education; and a wonderful extended family full of grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and their children. We promise to provide your baby with support, care and devotion, and to love them like crazy!

About Us
We met while we were both on the same trip vacationing in Asia. Little did we know that we lived 10 minutes apart from each other back in Boston! We knew from the start there was a deep connection, and the rest as they say, is history. We were both raised with similar values: we believe in always striving to do your very best, cherish family and friends, and always communicate with each other through the good times as well as the difficult ones. It’s because we always talk things through that we are able to encourage and motivate each other which has made our relationship even stronger. We are best friends and love being with each other and can’t wait to share our love with our children.

After we were married our strongest desire was to start a family. We were unable to get pregnant ourselves which was hard to overcome. We could not have gotten through that without support from each other. When one door closes another opens, and our first priority is to share our heart and our home with our adopted child.

We both love to travel whenever we can, learning about the history of our nation or different cultures. Between us, we’ve visited 30 states, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and we hope to go to the Grand Canyon on a family trip sometime in the future. As a couple, we love long walks, swimming, biking and playing on the beach. What we long for the most is to share these things with a little someone who can bring our lives even more joy.

Our Home
Our community is amazing. We live on a small cul-de-sac (where the neighborhood kids ride their bikes) in a welcoming suburb outside of Boston, Massachusetts. It is a town where everyone knows everyone, and it still feels like a small community. There are lakes to swim in, parks to play in, and many young children on all the streets nearby who love to play. We live within walking distance to the best schools in our area. Our house is a newer colonial surrounded with colorful plants, trees, and flowers that bloom all season, with a big deck and a large, flat backyard that is a popular place to have parties, or just run around and play.

We are a financially secure family, with Evan working nearby as a manager at a large high tech company, and Karyn working at home as a freelance graphic designer. Working at home freelancing, Karyn’s schedule is flexible as she plans to stay home to raise our children directly and not have our children in day care.

Why Evan Will Be a Great Dad, By Karyn
Evan is strong, kind, smart, and loving and he is going to be such a great dad. He has a wonderful sense of humor and is a great communicator. He is by nature optimistic, positive, and easy to be around. I know he will be patient, gentle and affectionate with our children. Evan loves to ski and mountain bike, and can’t wait to teach our children how to do both when they are ready just as his father did with him.

Evan adapts easily, whether enjoying sports with the guys or helping the children next door with their homework. He is looking forward to supporting our children in whatever activities they choose for themselves, and also hopes he can be involved as a coach, a dance partner, or a music appreciator. Evan is an amazing chef, and loves entertaining friends and family in our beautiful home. He loves to travel as I do, and we even took a cooking class together recently in Italy!

Evan earned his Master’s Degree in Business which demonstrates his commitment to education, and has worked at a local high tech company as a manager for the last ten years. While he enjoys his career, Evan’s family is always his first priority. As hard as he works, he always makes time for me and looks forward to being an equal parent when we have children.

Why Karyn Will Be a Great Mom, By Evan
I am truly lucky to have Karyn in my life. She makes me laugh, supports me and comforts me, and I look forward to her sharing that love and care with our children. In her I have my best friend and the most wonderful, nurturing partner I could have imagined. Karyn loves to take care of, mentor, laugh and play with the kids in the neighborhood, take walks outdoors with me and Zoey, help me cook, plan our vacations, and entertain family and friends. She is a great baker: Karyn makes the best blueberry muffins and coffee-cakes ever! She can’t wait to bake cookies for our children and scrap-book all of the pictures we will take when we are blessed with children.

While in college, Karyn was a dance instructor and looks forward to teaching our children some new moves. Karyn also loves holidays, especially Halloween and Thanksgiving. We love putting on costumes and going out trick-or-treating with the neighbor’s children almost as much as we love celebrating the holidays with our family.
As fulfilling as her career is, Karyn looks forward to staying home and being a mother to our children.

Our Dog Zoey
We have a beautiful two-year-old Maltese, Zoey, who may be the sweetest dog ever. She is well behaved and goes with us nearly everywhere; trips to our friends houses, family outings, and best of all, to the doggy play group where she can see all her friends! (The bottom right photo shows Zoey and her friends at play group) We love taking her for
walks and we can’t wait to get a baby jogger to take the whole family all over the neighborhood. Zoey is a loving companion and she makes us laugh everyday.

Zoey is the most popular girl on the block; a favorite of all the neighborhood children who often stop by to play with her. She loves children and can’t wait to have another family member to love!

Our Family and Friends
We believe that families created by adoption are special; in fact, Karyn’s Dad, Alan was himself adopted. Recently, close friends of ours adopted a little boy themselves, and to see their life filled with the love formed through adoption is such a blessing! Any child who enters our family through adoption will always know their adoption story and how loved they are by both their birth and adoptive families. Our family and friends are very supportive of our decision to adopt and are ready to help us welcome a new child into our lives.

Our marriage is as strong as ever, but we know that we’re missing having a child in our lives. We look forward to playing games, teaching ABC’s, and reading bed-time stories. They will learn humor and laughter, compassion, patience, kindness, joy, and love through our examples. We are ready for sleepless nights, changing diapers, potty training, catching butterflies and ladybugs, patching up scrapes and bruises, comforting fears, laughing a lot, visiting grandparents, singing lullabies and watching the Wiggles, Tigger and Pooh, planting a garden, and riding bikes.

Our Promise
We hope that after reviewing our letter you realize how much we will adore and nurture your child. In addition, your child will be surrounded by the caring, respect, love, and support from our extended family and friends. We will create opportunities for your child; if they want to go to college, we will create a fund for them to do so. Whatever path they choose, your child will be able to decide which opportunity is right, with our loving support.

We will gladly answer any of your questions. We want you to learn as much about us as possible. We are an open book to you. We promise to work with you to respect your wishes, privacy and comfort level concerning future contact as well. We hope to hear from you soon. Whatever the outcome, we wish you peace and love throughout your life. If you would like to speak with us directly, please contact Cindy Simonson (anytime) at A Act of Caring (800) 556-5635.
