Don and Karole
About Us
Together
We both love children and have chosen lives as educators. Don is currently the principal of a small elementary school. Karole spent the last twelve years as a grade six teacher. When we are not at work we have many diverse interests. Since we have most of the summer off we spend our free time gardening, kayaking, hiking, swimming, traveling, reading, and relaxing. One of our goals is hiking the forty-eight 4,000-foot peaks of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We try to spend plenty of time outdoors, from fishing to searching for moose antlers with our black lab. When the weather doesn’t cooperate, we enjoy cuddling by the fire watching a movie.
Karole (as written by Don)
Karole loves children and it is that love that drives her conscience. She displays honesty and dignity in all areas of her life. She understands what children need and want and can create a loving home in which any child will flourish.
Karole loves to watch movies, read books, play games, and just hang out. She quilts, scrapbooks, hikes, fishes, gardens, and kayaks. Karole loves it when she watches her nieces and nephew.
Karole is a born educator and has known since elementary school that she wanted to be a teacher.
She recently was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
Karole loves to take care of her home and family.
Don (as written by Karole)
Donald is a devoted and caring person, who when interacts with children demonstrates what a wonderful father he will be. He shows great patience and motivates children to do their best.
Don loves the outdoors. He enjoys hiking, kayaking, fishing, hunting, swimming and camping. He also loves sitting around the fire, making s’mores, playing with our puppy, and just puttering around the home.
Don is light-hearted and displays a nice sense of humor.
He can lighten any moment with a corny joke.
As a husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Don sets high standards for himself and works hard to maintain them.
Our Home,
We are very proud of where we live. We own a log cabin on a quiet dirt road. We have a huge yard which gives plenty of room for a swingset, learning to ride a bike, and sleighing in the wintertime. Our yard is surrounded by woods allowing for the occasional adventure. We take pleasure in watching the chickadees, nuthatches and finches – which Karole enjoys feeding – and the occasional wild turkey, fox, moose or deer that likes to wander through.
The inside of our home is very spacious, which is great when we have our family Thanksgiving Feast! We have three bedrooms (two are ready to fill), a living room and a family room. Our three levels of living space currently provides ample space for our neices and nephews to play hide-n-seek. We have three porches. In the front is a long farm-house porch. Leave the living room through the French doors and you’ll be sitting on the screened porch. Off the main floor bedroom is a third porch.
In closing,
We are excited that you are reading our letter -- thank you! We often talk of the experiences that lie ahead, and wonder about the child, still unborn, that will one day be the fabric of our lives. We wonder about you and the relationships we may share one day. We are sure you are thinking many of the same thoughts about the family in which you may one day choose to place your child. What are we like? What would your child’s future be like if you were to choose us?
I know we may share many of the same anxieties and uncertainties about the future, and about meeting each other. If we can answer any of your questions, or if you would just like to meet us to quell some of those anxieties, please don’t hesitate to ask. It is our greatest desire to open our home and our hearts to adoption and would be honored to speak with you at any time.
Adopting a child will be such a gift to our family. We look forward to it so much. We have visions of a car seat, a little one in the rear view mirror, another voice resounding through the house and yard, splashing in the bathtub, and small feet pattering around the house. We look forward to new beginnings – hearing the first words, watching the first steps, and the first holidays.
Whatever life brings to us we will always be there for our children. It was a promise Donald and I made to each other, and one we are making to you. We promise to cherish your child with all of our hearts. We will always share with your child the great courage you have, and the love you have for them. When we talk to this beautiful child about you it will be with reverence and honor. We know that your road has not been easy and that you are making one of the most difficult decisions of your life. While we will never understand how difficult your decisions are, we do know that they are made with great love. You are in our thoughts and we wish you the very best, whatever your decision may be. If you would like to learn more about us or speak to us on the phone, please contact Cindy at 800-556-5635.
With respect,
Don and Karole
